The Minnesota Twins and the Houston Astros will do battle in Game 4 of the ALDS on Wednesday night. After a decisive 9-1 victory in Game 3 to go up 2-1 in the series, the Astros will have a chance to finish the job and set up a lone-star date with the Texas Rangers in the ALCS.
The Astros' came ready to play in the postseason. Through three playoff games, Houston leads MLB in slugging percentage (.552) and OPS (.900), and the line has already slugged eight home runs. The 'Stros should have plenty of success against Joe Ryan, who gave up 13 runs over his last three starts in the regular season and will be making his first career postseason start.
The Twins should also be able to score against Jose Urquidy and an Astros bullpen that's already surrendered six earned runs and two homers in this series. Take the over.
Stop me if you've heard this before. Yordan Alvarez is absolutely mashing in October.
Over the first three games of this series, Alvarez is batting .500 with four home runs, two doubles and six RBIs. He's slugging 1.667 with a 2.205 OPS this postseason, which can only be described as video game numbers.
In seven career at-bats against Ryan, Alvarez has two hits and a homer. If the Twins are brave enough to pitch to Alvarez with anyone on base in Game 4, he will make them pay.
