Pirates’ minor league affiliates went 1-2 on Sunday, with two close losses and a home run from their first round pick in the 2022 draft.
Triple-A Indianapolis saw their doubleheader against the Omaha Storm Chasers postponed due to inclement weather, the third day in a row they’ve sat sidelined as storms continue to sweep the great plains.
The Altoona Curve fell 6-5 to the Akron Rubber Ducks. Anthony Solometo got roughed up for four runs in 3.1 innings and, while the offense managed to get them back in the game, Altoona surrendered the game-winning RBI single in the top of the ninth inning for the second consecutive day. They put two runners on in the bottom of the ninth, but a double play erased any hope of a comeback. High-A Greensboro took care of business in a 4-1 win, with Termarr Johnson leading off the game with his first homer of the season and Jack Brannigan tacking on his fourth.
The Bradenton Marauders lost 5-3, dropping their record to an ugly 4-17.
