Seattle Mariners third baseman Eugenio Suarez currently leads the majors in strikeouts with 173, but he was able to turn a simple foul tip into quite a performance during the team's 5-3 win over the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday night.

Suarez had a big night at the dish, going 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs, and was able to snap his streak of eight consecutive games with a strikeout. He also homered for the 25th time this season, ninth time in August and sixth time in the last two weeks.
A one-time All-Star, Suarez was traded from the Cincinnati Reds to the Mariners in the offseason in a deal that also landed Seattle 2021 All-Star outfielder Jesse Winker.
The 31-year-old has posted a .231/.335/.449 slash line and leads the team in home runs, RBIs (75), games played (129), at-bats (463), doubles (22) and total bases (208). The Mariners enter action Thursday at 72-58 and in position for the second AL wild-card spot.
