The Los Angeles Lakers won their 17th championship in franchise history this past year. It marked the fourth time LeBron James had won a ring, as well as Anthony Davis’ first ever chip. Moreover, the fact that it happened within the confides of the NBA Bubble and in the aftermath of Kobe Bryant’s tragic passing, this victory just felt a little bit more special than some of the other ones.
One neat thing that the Lakers organization decided to do following the win was reward members of the franchise’s extended family – including former forward Metta World Peace.
The veteran showed off his new bling in a recent Instagram post. The caption on the post read: “So excited about my new @lakers championship ring. #242. Thanks lakers!!!!”
Ever since Dr. Jerry Buss first purchased the Lakers, the organization has had a reputation for caring about players and family members. This most recent gesture by the franchise is just another reason why that standing is very much deserved.
